Biographical Note:  The records of the Arkansas Sociological and Anthropological Association (ASAA) consist of annual meeting programs, minutes, presidential addresses, and copies of its newsletter, The Social Exchange.

Scope and Contents Note:  The Arkansas Sociological and Anthropological Association (ASAA) is an active organization whose purpose is to “provide the highest level of college education in…Arkansas and to further knowledge of the discipline as a whole…”  The association was formed in 1970 as the Arkansas Sociological Association (ASA).  In 1986, the name was changed to the Arkansas Sociological and Anthropological Association.  Membership is open to teachers and students of sociology, anthropology, and/or related subjects.  The officers of the ASAA are elected by the membership and serve one-year terms.

Arrangement:  This collection has no series or subseries.

Processing Information:  The collection was donated to the University of Central Arkansas Archives and Special Collections January 31, 1989.  The collection was processed under the direction of archivist Tom W. Dillard.  Edits to the finding aid were completed by Shelbea Gentry in 2025.
