Biographical Note:  Eva Mae Burkett was born April 9, 1903, in Culleoka, Tennessee. She received both her M. A. and Ph. D. from George Peabody College for Teachers. Burkett began her career teaching English in 1935 at Middle Tennessee State College. In 1963, she came to Arkansas State Teachers College as a Professor of English. Burkett retired from teaching in 1971. Burkett died on June 17, 1994.

Processing Information:  Initial donation in 1986 consisted of a manuscript, Prose: A Systematic Approach to Writing under the direction of Archivist Tom W. Dillard. The remainder of the collection was received in 1994 and processed in 1997 by Kristi Manderbey.  In 2024 the finding aid was edited by Valerus Quill with assistance from Shelbea Gentry in 2025.
