M86-02 – E.E. CORDREY COLLECTION

Everett E.Cordrey was born in Chamois, Missouri on April 3, 1890.  He graduated from Chamois High School in 1906.  He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from State Normal School, Warrensburg, Missouri in 1910 and 1911 respectively.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Chicago in 1913.  He taught three years in rural schools in Missouri and served one year as principal for a village school.  He taught science in Hot Springs High School in the 1912-13 school year.  The next year he taught household and applied chemistry at Little Rock High School.

He became a science instructor at Arkansas State Normal School in Conway in 1914 where he remained until his retirement in 1950.  At that time he was Dean of Instruction, Professor of Chemistry and Head of the Physical Science Department.  He sponsored Phi Sigma Phi, the Science Club, for thirty-four years.

The bulk of the collection consists mostly of class records with three ledgers containing minutes and records of the Science Club and the Crestomath Literary Society.
