Donald E. Whistler (PhD., Southern Illinois University) was a Professor of Political Science at the University of Central Arkansas where he has taught since 1972. He is an editor of, and contributor to, Building Democracy in One-Party Systems (Praeger, 1993); the author/coauthor of more than 20 articles in state, regional, and national journals, including Politics & Policy, Political Research Quarterly, and Women & Politics; and the author/coauthor of more than 50 papers presented at state, regional, and international conferences. He served as president of the Arkansas Political Science Association and that Association’s journal editor; was a member of the UCA Faculty Senate for fifteen years, including two terms as president; and served as a president of the UCA Chapter of the American Association of University Professors. He and Mary Sue Wolf have been married since 1963. They have two daughters, Heather and Heidi, and five grandchildren: Hannah, Ben, Grace, Kate, and Landon.
