M01-10 – HELEN TITUS ERWIN COLLECTION

Ms. Erwin was born on April 21, 1901, in Lawson, Missouri to James Frank and Alice Bethel Titus.  In 1905, the family moved to Hamburg, Arkansas.  She married Ashley Crossett Erwin and moved to Crossett in 1936.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and a sister.  Survivors include two sisters, Louise Gettle of Stuttgart, Arkansas and Ruth Ingram of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Silas D. Snow of North Little Rock; three nieces and seven nephews. She died on June 8, 2001 and is buried at Pinewood Memorial Park in Crossett, Arkansas.

Silas D. Snow, mentioned above, was the fifth president of the University of Central Arkansas.  He served longer than any other president of the institution, 1953-1975.
