This photograph collection was compiled over a period of many years by the Faulkner County Historical Society (FCHS) in Conway, Arkansas. Eventually the collection grew to the point that it was impossible for the Society to properly care for it. In March 1987 the UCA Archives entered into an agreement with the FCHS whereby the Archives received ownership of the collection although the society name would forever be associated with the collection.

Many of the photographs in the collection were published in the quarterly journal of the FCHS, the Faulkner Facts and Fiddlings. A large number were also published in a book by the Society in 1986, Faulkner County: Its Land and People (Conway: River Road Press.)
