The University of Central Arkansas is participating in the Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL) — a nationally recognized research initiative that explores how leadership development, personal growth, and college experiences shape students during their time in higher education.
If you received an invitation to participate, this page will answer your questions about what the survey is, why it matters, and how to participate.
What is the Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL)?
The MSL is a national research study administered by the organization Exploring Leadership. It examines:
- How students define and practice leadership
- The impact of campus involvement and experiences
- Personal growth and development during college
- Skills and competencies gained through engagement
Thousands of students across colleges and universities participate in this study each year. UCA’s participation allows us to better understand the student experience on our campus and identify ways to strengthen leadership development opportunities.

Who Can Participate?
Students who receive an invitation via their UCA email are eligible to complete the survey. If you received the link, you were randomly selected to represent the student body.
How Do I Take the Survey?
- Check your UCA email beginning March 1 for your personalized survey link.
- Click the link and complete the survey by March 22.
- Submit your responses to be entered into the prize drawing.

How Long Does the Survey Take?
The survey typically takes approximately 20–30 minutes to complete.
You may complete it in one sitting. Your honest and thoughtful responses are encouraged.
Is My Information Confidential?
Yes. Individual responses are confidential and will be reported only in aggregate form. Your answers will not be shared individually and will not impact your academic standing.
What Can I Win?
Students who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for one of 10 prizes, including:

Ten winners will be randomly selected after the survey closes on March 22.
