VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Football Volunteering
Staff Senate is tasked with acquiring and equipping volunteers to work as gate attendants, ticket takers, and ushers for each home football game. These volunteer positions raise money for Staff Senate to use to benefit as many UCA staff members as possible through Staff Senate sponsored programs.
Basketball Volunteering
Staff Senate is tasked with acquiring and equipping volunteers to work as ushers for each home basketball game. These volunteer positions raise money for Staff Senate to use to benefit as many UCA staff members as possible through Staff Senate sponsored programs.
Public Appearances Usher Volunteering
Staff Senate is tasked with acquiring and equipping volunteers to work as ushers for Reynolds Performance Hall and Windgate Center for Fine & Performing Arts shows. These volunteer positions raise money for Staff Senate to use to benefit as many UCA staff members as possible through Staff Senate sponsored programs.
Commencement Volunteering
Staff have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate our wonderful students at the end of each semester by serving in various roles to assist in commencement running smoothly.
How to Volunteer
UCA staff who volunteer for Staff Senate events such as football, basketball, Reynolds/Windgate performances, and commencement can earn up to 16 hours of leave time each calendar year that can be used any time during the year, subject to supervisor approval.
Staff can earn up to 16 hours each calendar year. Those who accrue but do not use the 16 hours within the calendar year can carry over up to 16 hours for the next calendar year. If a staff member rolls over hours from the previous calendar year, the staff member will need to use all of the rollover hours that they have earned before they can begin earning/using the hours they can earn for the current calendar year. If volunteer hours are served during an employee’s scheduled work day, Staff Senate time will not be accrued in their leave bank.
In both cases, Staff Senate will still use volunteer hours to fulfill professional development and scholarship funding requirements earned during the needed time these funds are given, regardless of rollover or earned hour maximums. Other UCA Volunteer Opportunities
Staff interested in additional opportunities to volunteer on campus or in the community are encouraged to visit uca.edu/volunteer or contact Outreach & Community Engagement for more information. Staff employees cannot earn Staff Senate leave time through other UCA volunteer opportunities, but can qualify for BeWell points and may be able to participate in some opportunities during work hours with supervisor approval. Other Giving Opportunities
There are other ways to give to UCA staff through Staff Senate beyond volunteering for events. During the holiday season, there are opportunities to donate food and adopt angels. You can even help a lot by giving a little all year long. If you wish to give to any of the Staff Senate Foundation accounts you can do so by payroll deduction or by visiting uca.edu/giving (make to include in the comments which account(s) you wish to place your donation).
