The event features a public screening of the film September 30, 1955 starring Richard Thomas and directed by James Bridges. The film was released in 1977 and was filmed in Conway and on the University of Central Arkansas Campus. The story centers around the death of Jimmy’s (Richard Thomas) idol, James Dean, on September 30, 1955, and the small-town Arkansas college undergraduate loses his grip on reality. Richard Thomas is an American actor and Emmy Award-Winner who also received multiple Golden Globe Award nominations for his starring role as “John-Boy Walton” in the television drama “The Waltons”. He is most recognizable to contemporary television audiences for his roles in the hit series “Ozark”, “The Americans”, “Billions” and the original Stephen King mini-series “It”.
