Dr. Corbitt

Dr. Mieke Corbitt is a Clinical Instructor within the Department of Physical Therapy, bringing nearly two decades of specialized expertise to the faculty. A Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (COMT), Dr. Corbitt earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 2008. Her extensive clinical portfolio spans 17 years across private practice, hospital-based orthopedics, and acute care environments. She has additional continuing education certifications, including dry needling and blood flow restriction.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Corbitt is instrumental with inclusion of service-learning, strategically integrating community-based experiential learning and with periodic pro-bono care while mentoring students in real-world rehabilitative settings. As the Faculty Advisor for the Physical Therapy Club, she provides essential mentorship and focus on service opportunities for the next generation of clinicians.

An active contributor to the profession, Dr. Corbitt has a long-standing tenure with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), including previous service on the Board of Directors for the Arkansas Chapter. Her clinical and research interests center on sports rehabilitation, return-to-play protocols, and outpatient musculoskeletal optimization. She maintains an active clinical practice at Charton Physical Therapy and Conway Regional Medical Center, ensuring her instruction remains grounded in current evidence-based outcomes.

Since joining the full-time faculty in 2022, Dr. Corbitt has coordinated coursework in Musculoskeletal I-III, Clinical Administration and Management, Patient Management and Documentation, and components of Physical Agents & Therapeutic Exercise, fostering a rigorous academic environment that bridges the gap between theoretical framework and clinical excellence. She is currently developing a Global Learning Elective with the goal of student travel for immersion and introduction to healthcare and well-being of Costa Rica as well as an Advanced Spinal Manual Therapy Elective.

Outside of academia, Dr. Corbitt enjoys attending her daughters’ sporting events (dance, volleyball, track, gymnastics, and tumbling/trampoline), traveling, water skiing, being outdoors, and co-owning a local business with her husband and friends.
