UCA Police Communications Specialist (Dispatcher) Recruitment

The University of Central Arkansas Police Department is seeking applications for Police Dispatcher. Responsibilities include receiving incoming calls; dispatching officers to calls and criminal incidents; assessing the scope and extent of response necessary; utilizing a variety of criminal justice computer systems including ACIC/NCIC; processing police reports, takes appropriate action in response to alarms, calls for assistance, and security of buildings and offices, and assists stranded motorists and others in need of assistance. Monitors security and fire panel for security and fire detection, and assists with checking the university alarm systems.  Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Experience as a public safety agency dispatcher is desired.  Must be able to obtain ACIC certification, work assigned shifts that will occasionally rotate to include nights weekends and holidays, work overtime as required, and pass a background investigation.  Proficiency with computers desired.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be certified by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Training in accordance with ACA 12-9-106, or an equivalent from another state.  Ability to pass background investigation.  US Citizen.

UCAPD Release Activity Report for FY 2013-14

The UCA Police Department has released its Annual Activity Report for fiscal year 2013-2014. This report includes an accounting of the mission, purposes, functions and operations of the UCA Police Department and an analysis of police activity and criminal incidents for fiscal year 2013-2014. It represents a comprehensive view of the outstanding work performed by officers, emergency communications specialists, and support staff of the police department.
