Associate Director of Office of Accessibility Resources and Services

 

Robyn Smith is the Associate Director of the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Human Resources from Athens State College and a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Jacksonville State University. 

Prior to starting at UCA worked as a Job Corps Counselor, a Housing Director for a private college, for TVA in the nuclear industry and in the Micrographics field. She retired from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She specialized in transition, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism and Traumatic Brain Injury. During her time in Missouri, she served as the chairperson for the Region VII Council for the Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, was on the Even Start Advisory Board, was a member of the Regional Transition Board, Youth Council member for the Central Workforce Investment Board, the Conference Chairperson for the Missouri Rehabilitation Association, member of the National Rehabilitation Association. She was a member of the Rolla Technical Institutes Special Needs Advisory Board, a member of the DESE Special Education Improvement Plan Team, and the VR Capacity Building, Transition, Financial, and New Counselor Training Teams. She is a current member of the Association on Higher Education and Disability and the Arkansas Association on Higher Education and Disability.

She has presented on: Transitioning to College, Work Study/CO-OP Programming, Special Education and Employment, How Seamless Elementary to Secondary Programming Leads to Employment and provided parental training on Community Resources and Post-Secondary Options for Student with Disabilities.

At UCA, she is a VA Supporter, Staff Senate member, and member of the CARE Team. Her passion is not only assisting student in securing the accommodations to which they are entitled, but serving as a support to UCA faculty and staff.
