Griffin Planetarium shows this Friday May 23 and Saturday May 24 at 7:00pm: The one-hour shows this week include a tour of the current sky, a flight around the Earth, and the full-dome movie “Big Astronomy” which visits the large observatories located in Chile. The planetarium is located in the Conway Corporation Center for the Sciences. Seating starts 10 minutes before show time. Admission is free. Seating limited to the first 94. No admission after the shows begin. No food or drink allowed.

Dear UCA Community,
It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the addition of Kerry Shannon as the new Sr. Associate Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness at the University of Central Arkansas. Kerry will officially begin his role on June 2, 2025.
Kerry brings over a decade of leadership experience in campus recreation, most recently serving as the sole professional staff member overseeing the entire Campus Recreation program at Arkansas Tech University. In this role, he managed all aspects of the department—including intramural sports, outdoor recreation, staffing, budgeting, facility use, and program development—demonstrating exceptional initiative, versatility, and leadership.
He holds a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State University, a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Friends University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the College of the Ozarks. Kerry is also known for his innovative and inclusive programming, including launching the first Play Unified league in Arkansas.
With a strong passion for student engagement and development, Kerry thrives in dynamic, collaborative environments. His experience, strategic vision, and commitment to enriching campus life make him a valuable asset to our team and the UCA community.

Please join the Department of First Year Experience welcoming our Fall incoming students and their families for our 2025 SOAR dates – May 20, May 22, May 28-29, June 1-2, June 3, June 5, June 17-18, June 22-23, June 24, June 26, & July 22.
Please know campus will be busy with our incoming Bears on these dates. They are directed to park at the Donaghey Hall parking lot. During 1-day sessions, all attendees will be eating in the cafeteria between 12-1:15pm. For 2-day sessions, guests will be eating at retail locations on the second day for breakfast and lunch. Please check out our website for SOAR schedules.
If you see SOAR attendees on campus, please welcome them! Students will have a purple lanyard name tag and student guests are identified by a gray lanyard.

Support Families in Need! Join Women’s Leadership Academy at the Women’s Business Showcase on Thursday, May 22nd, in the McCastlain Ballroom from 5 – 8 pm. Accepting donations of diapers, wipes, bottles, and clothing for local families. A donation box will be available for easy drop-off during the event. UCA Cub Fit Camp is an exciting and event-filled fitness camp for rising 4th and 5th graders. This camp is specifically designed to provide structured games, activities and health education that promotes the campers’ overall health and wellbeing. Campers will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and engaging fitness and health sessions including things like yoga, martial arts, creative arts, sports, nutrition education and planning, and health education. Cub Fit Camp is a great way for children to boost physical activity, learn about different ways to stay healthy, make new friends, and work with numerous UCA health and fitness professionals in a supporting and motivating environment. Dates: June 10th – 12th from 8 am-4 pm.
