Griffin Planetarium shows this Friday May 9 and Saturday May 10 at 7:00pm: The one-hour shows this week include a tour of the current sky and the full-dome movie “Invaders of Mars!”. The planetarium is located in the Conway Corporation Center for the Sciences. Seating starts 10 minutes before show time. Admission is free. Seating limited to the first 94. No admission after the shows begin. No food or drink allowed.

Dr. Robert Mauldin, Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the UCA Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, received the Professor of the Year Award at the Central Arkansas Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) on Tuesday, April 15, at an awards banquet on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The executive council of the UCA student affiliates section of the ACS nominated Dr. Mauldin, with chemistry major Natalie Stocks writing the nomination. In the letter of nomination, Natalie stated that Mauldin “cultivated an environment where students were inspired to ask questions, and, no matter what their background or skill level, were empowered to succeed.” The nomination letter included the statement that Dr. Mauldin practices a “unique incorporation of philosophy into his teaching, which proves particularly effective in a chemistry course….by encouraging students to questions assumptions, explore the underlying principles of scientific theories, and reflect on the broader implications of chemical concepts, Dr. Mauldin fosters a deeper understanding of the material.” With this award, Mauldin joins the excellent company of Drs. Faith Yarberry and Greg Naumiec, also from the UCA Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, who have received this award previously.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition for the 2026-2027 academic year is open.
The deadline to apply to U.S. Scholar awards is September 15, 2025 (5:00 pm Eastern (UTC -5:00)). The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers over 400 awards in more than 135 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects around the world. College and university faculty, as well as artists and professionals from a wide range of fields can join over 400,000 Fulbrighters who have come away with enhanced skills, new connections, and greater mutual understanding.
These awards are open to faculty, staff, and administrators interested in proposing a professional project abroad, and programs are now offered in varying lengths (you do not have to travel for a full semester or year). Visit fulbrightscholars.org/us-scholar-awards for more information.

Whether you’re a Java enthusiast, just starting your coding journey, or curious about a career in tech, this is a perfect chance to mingle with the ArCA team, explore what we do, and get a closer look at our Full-Stack program featuring Java and SQL.

UCA Piano camp is coming up June 23-27! Be sure to register your child ages 4-18 for summer camp! Children will enjoy piano classes and movement classes which will introduce them to the basics of piano and music. From April 21–24, UCA brought Bear Country to Northwest Arkansas, reinforcing our commitment to forge stronger connections between UCA and this thriving region.
UCA President Houston Davis and teams from across campus connected with local leaders, alumni, and future students to celebrate UCA’s growing impact on the region.
Events over the four-day blitz included a Higher Education Roundtable featuring President Davis and attended by 400 business leaders; Washington and Benton County high school senior socials hosted by Admissions; Off-the-Clock networking social at Thaden Field for UCA Aviation Academy, Alumni and Friends Social at the Leroy Lounge hosted by UCA Advancement; and Rotary club presentations by President Davis, Aviation Academy Director Brad Teague and Provost Michael Hargis.
