- Completion of a faculty-led independent study (ACCT 4390). The independent study shall result in a research project that produces a paper suitable to submit for possible publication, presentation to UCA faculty, and possible presentation at a conference. With approval of the Department Chair, an alternate project (not resulting in a traditional research paper) may be approved.

Honors in Economics Requirements
For honors in the major in economics, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and must complete an independent study (ECON 4390) under the supervision of a faculty member. The independent study shall result in a research project which produces a paper suitable to submit for possible publication. The independent study course can be used as a major elective.
Honors in Finance Requirements
For honors in the major in finance, a student must have a minimum of a 3.25 cumulative GPA and complete an independent study (FINA 4390) under the supervision of a faculty member. The independent study shall result in one of the following:
- A research project which produces a paper ready to submit for publication,
- A research project which provides a detailed stock analysis of at least 3 companies,
- Competition at a minimum in the regional level in a significant finance related competition such as the CFA Global Investment Research Challenge or the Governor’s Cup,
- Or a significant consulting project for a company or government agency that is pre-approved by the finance faculty.
Honors in Insurance Requirements
For honors in the major in Insurance & Risk Management, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and complete the UACIC designation, the Collegiate Studies for CPCU program, and an internship (INSU 3382).
