About the Schedler Honors Program
Established in 2018, the Schedler Honors Program at UCA provides enhanced educational opportunities in a living-learning environment designed to develop socially responsible leaders. Admitted through a highly competitive application process, scholars benefit from a curriculum that emphasizes leadership, social responsibility, and disciplinary expertise. Scholars are empowered to be leaders within the community and beyond by honing their skills in academic research and writing, developing a personal leadership identity, and practicing ethical decision-making.
What is our Honors-to-Honors Pathway?
- While the majority of students admitted to the Schedler Honors Program (SHP) join us as incoming freshmen, a growing number of our students join us through our Honors-to-Honors or H2H pathway. H2H Scholars come to UCA as transfer students from two-year Honors programs all over the nation. Rather than the four-year curriculum traditional students participate in, we have a special two-year curriculum for the students we refer to as H2H Scholars.
- H2H Scholars receive all of the benefits of the Schedler Honors Program with the opportunity to fulfill requirements using courses taken at their previous institution. Students will take a total of 3 honors courses at UCA, each delivered in a dynamic and engaging setting that emphasizes student participation and small class sizes.
- This unique program offers opportunities for student involvement and promotes individualized learning. With the full support of Honors faculty and a faculty mentor, H2H Scholars will complete a capstone project and graduate from UCA with recognition as an Undergraduate Scholar.

Any scholarships the student earns may stack to the amount specified by state law.
- Additionally, all Honors students are given the opportunity to live in Farris Honors Hall, which features private rooms arranged in suites. H2H students will receive the private room upgrade scholarship covering the difference in cost between the private room in Farris and a standard Tier I double-room rate (valued at approximately $1,100/semester) if the student chooses to live in Honors housing.
- H2H Scholars also have access to Travel Abroad Grants (TAG), Experiential Learning Funds (ELF), and Undergraduate Research Grants in Education (URGE) programs, which provide funding for more than 60 students each year to participate in life-transforming study abroad and undergraduate research or internship experiences.
