Who We Are

A Novel Bunch is our social organization for English majors, minors, grad students, and any student who loves stories of all kinds! That includes everything from novels and poems to film, graphic novels, and video games. Our goal is to promote community and conversation.

Our Activities

We have fun activities each year. Every fall, A Novel Bunch partners with Torreyson Library for Banned Books Week activities to celebrate our constitutionally protected right to read. In the spring, we have a party to honor our student award winners and inductees into Sigma Tau Delta (the International English Honors Society). In addition to these regular events, we take on service projects and do fun activities.

Our special projects have included:

  • Attendance at a sneak preview of the Arkansas Repertory’s production of The Grapes of Wrath
  • The club’s participation at an international Robert Louis Stevenson conference held at the Little Rock Library
  • A trip to Memphis to attend a production of Margaret Edson’s Pulitzer-prize winning drama, Wit
  • In fall 2021, we all went to see the new Dune film as a group

Who Can Join?

A Novel Bunch is open to any student who enjoys literature and stories of all kinds. You can be any major or minor at any level. No GPA or credit level requirement required to join!

How Can I Join?

The easiest way is to make sure you’re looped in to our newsletter and our social media. That’s how we get the word out about upcoming events and activities. To be added to the newsletter email list, contact Dr. Katherine Conley.

And if you want to chat about how to get more involved in general in the life of the department, reach out to Dr. Dwayne Coleman or Dr. Ty Hawkins.
