Sonya Sawyer Fritz (Ph.D., Texas A&M University) is a Professor of English who researches and teaches courses on children’s and YA literature and culture, Victorian literature and culture, and womens and girls studies, among other topics. She is the co-editor with Sara K. Day of The Victorian Era in Twenty-First-Century Children’s and Adolescent Literature and Culture (Routledge 2018); her work has also appeared in Neo-Victorian Studies, Girlhood Studies, Humanities, and various essay collections. She is an associate editor of the Children’s Literature Association Quarterly, and a member of the reading committee for the Charlie May Simon Book Award, which seeks to promote literacy among 4th-6th-grade students in Arkansas. Her courses at UCA frequently incorporate service-learning assignments that partner students with a wide range of community partners, including the Children’s Advocacy Alliance, the Faulkner County Public Library, and the Faulkner County Senior Wellness and Activity Center.
