Internships

Communication offers academic credit for internships in Communication (COMM), Public Relations (PRLS), and Writing (WRTG) to qualified students majoring in Communication, Public Relations, and Writing.

Resume/Cover Letter Guidelines

 

Directed Studies in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, and Professional and General Writing require a contract between the student and faculty member. The Directed Study provides the student to have the opportunity for advanced study of specific topics. Please click on the program for the contract form.

Advising information – Students needing to locate their advisor’s name, degree audit, etc., can easily do so by logging into their student account through Degree Works. From there, click on Information for Students.

College, Department & Program Specific Scholarships

JERRY OVERTON SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time junior or senior students majoring in journalism with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above in both major and academic studies. Selection based on academic performance, demonstrated journalism development as shown by working in news, radio, TV internships/jobs and other related journalism activities. Student must have a strong desire to make journalism their profession.

Foundation Scholarships

WILL COUNTS JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time students majoring in journalism who have completed 60 hours or more with a GPA of 2.5 or above. Consideration shall be given to financial need

MARSHALL DEAN DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time freshmen students who are graduates of Booneville (Arkansas) High School pursuing a degree in English, history or journalism. Preference shall be given to students with financial need

FRED AND LILLIAN PETRUCELLI SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time students majoring in writing, journalism or theatre with a GPA of 2.75 or above. Selection shall be based on financial need, potential and academic performance.

JOHN AND BETTY WARD SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time students majoring in journalism. Requires completion of 60 hours or more and cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above. Selection shall be based on financial need, potential and academic performance.

DONIS W. FORD MEMORIAL BOOK SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time junior or senior African-American students majoring in English, African-American Studies or Writing with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Consideration may be given to financial need.

AARON B. MACKEY SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time African-American students who have been accepted into the athletic or communication programs at UCA. Requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and ACT of 18 or above. Consideration may be given to financial need.

FAYDEAN DUNEVANT SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time female African-American students who are residents of Faulkner County (Arkansas) and majoring within the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The recipient shall be an active member of their church with preference given to a student involved in the church’s music program. Selection shall be based on financial need and cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Alumni Association Scholarship

JOHN C. ROHWEDER SCHOLARSHIP
For full-time undergraduate students who have completed 30 or more hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above. Preference is given to non-traditional students, students majoring in writing, or students pursuing a degree within the College of Fine Arts and Communication. Consideration may be given to financial need.

 

Journalism

There are scholarships available in Journalism in the areas of Channel Six, The Scroll, and The Echo. These scholarships are awarded each Fall or Spring and may be renewable. Deadlines for application submission is April 30 for the Fall semester and November 15 for the Spring semester.
