AFA: Student Alumni Connection

 

What is AFA?

Founded in 2003, the Association of Future Alumni is a high profile, high energy student organization that is comprised of 35 selected members.  As a member of AFA you serve as a student ambassador for the UCA Alumni Association, focus on building connections with UCA Alumni, and instill the spirit of tradition, volunteerism and philanthropy among students and future alumni.

AFA Events & Activities:

This organization participates in a variety of activities and events that require the dedication and commitment of each member.

Freshmen Convocation – During Welcome Week, AFA presents each freshman with a UCA lapel pen and UCA Traditions and History book to welcome them into the UCA Family.

Tradition Keepers – AFA gives these books out to Freshman. These books familiarize students with UCA facts and traditions.

Mudstock - AFA hosts Mudstock, which is a day long  mud volleyball tournament held in the fall of each year. Click here for more info.

Freshmen Survival Kits - AFA sponsors UCA Freshmen Survival kits.  Parents are given the chance to help their new student transition to college by purchasing a survival kit that contains college essentials. Survival Kits are $20 each & on sale July 1 – Aug. 20. Call 501-852-2955 to order one.

Alumni Connections – AFA focuses on Alumni events, University events, and Community Service which helps connect with as many as 50,000 UCA Alumni.

UCA Official Ring - AFA designed the UCA Official Ring and launched the ring program in Spring 2008. Rings can be ordered during “Ring Order Days” held in the Fall and Spring or can be ordered online anytime www.balfour.com.

Homecoming - AFA organizes the homecoming parade, Bears Giving Back canned food drive and homecoming t-shirt design and sales. AFA assists with tailgating, Half Century Club brunch, and Alumni Homecoming Party.

Tailgating - AFA partners up with the Alumni Association in order to host, plan and organize activities for students and alumni at home football games.

Roses for Grads - AFA members sell roses to graduates family members so they can be presented as a present to the new grad. This is held prior to commencement in May each year.

Community Service - In addition to activities on the UCA campus, AFA is  involved in at least one community service project a semester.

How to Join AFA:

AFA applications are available in February of each year. You can pick one up at the Student Center Information desk,  Buffalo Alumni Hall or download an AFA Online Application 2014.

Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
  • Must be a Sophomore classification by end of spring ’13, which requires completion of 30 credit hours.
  • Must be in good standing with the University.
