ACT Prep Course – Spring 2018

This course is designed for high school students (10th grade and above) who have previously scored between 17-25 on the ACT or for high schoolers who have yet to take the test.  Four UCA faculty, experienced in leading ACT Prep courses, will review subject material and offer test-taking tips to help students progress through the exam in a more reasonable and timely manner. Class sizes are kept fairly small to maximize learning. Small class sizes allowing more specific instruction. Total number of students limited to 60. (Note: Registration for this course does not automatically register you to take the ACT exam.) Broadway musical theater offers a history of American popular musical styles as well as a forum to debate such vital social issues as racism, antisemitism, and gender inequality. Cake Decorating Phase 1

Stop paying for custom cakes and learn to create beautiful cakes at home! You will learn the fundamentals of baking cakes and cake decorating in this fun, hands-on course. Cake Decorating for Kids

Due to its popularity last year, we decided to bring this class back as well. Kids will join Patti Stobaugh, owner of Patticakes Bakery, in decorating a 6" round cake for Mother's Day. Patti will share techniques such as how to use Russian tips to make cool flowers and also use edible plaques for kids to write a note to mom. This evening will be a special experience for kids and a sweet treat for mom!

Cubs in the Kitchen – Culinary Camp

This three-day culinary camp for kids ages 8-12 years old is back by popular demand! Junior chefs will work in small groups to prepare a dish that will incorporate a surprise atypical food ingredient. Each day of the camp, chefs will explore a different cooking focus resulting in an exciting culinary experience. Day 1: Appetizers with a surprise ingredient Day 2: Entrée with a surprise ingredient Day 3: Desserts with a surprise ingredient This three-day "chopped junior" style camp will teach young chefs cooking skills that are sure to tap into their creative talents. In addition to being exposed to a "surprise' food ingredient each day, chefs will also take a closer look at the food items and how to incorporate them into meals at home. Note: The 2018 camp will be a repeat of the 2017 camp program & menus.

Cucina Italiana

If you know anything about traditional Italian cooking, you know that a lot of time and thought go into each prepared dish. Then, after the meal is prepared, it's about enjoying the food and the time with family and friends. Certified sous chef Michelle Canulla will take you and a partner or friend through the Italian dining experience from beginning to end in this hands-on course. Trained in traditional Italian cooking by Mamma Canulla from the old country, Michelle will lead you through the process of making homemade pasta with a seasonal sauce. You will also prepare a fresh summer salad with a homemade Italian vinaigrette. Italian bread will be served as well. End the evening Italian-style as everyone will gather at the table to dine heartily, drink Italian wine and enjoy some quality time together. Register with a friend and join us! Age 21 and up. UCA Cub Fit Camp invites rising 4th and 5th graders to campus for a dynamic daily schedule of activities related to health and wellness.
