Travis Sorenson (PhD, Texas A&M University; MA, Monterey Institute of
International Studies; BA, Utah State University) is a Professor of Spanish. He
joined the UCA faculty in fall 2009. Beyond the grammar classes that he
teaches on a regular basis, his instructional interests are focused on
linguistics generally and include specific courses dealing with phonetics,
dialectology, sociolinguistics, and translation, topics that coincide with his
research endeavors. While the bulk of Dr. Sorenson’s research dissemination
has taken the form of numerous journal articles and conference
presentations, his first book was published in spring of 2021: The Dialects of
Spanish: A Lexican Introduction (Cambridge University Press).
