Alexis Smith is a graduate student pursuing her Master’s degree in English at the University of Central Arkansas. She teaches courses, such as Film and Literature as part of her professional training.

Ms. Smith graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Linguistics from UCA in May of 2022. Her research centers on the intersection of linguistics and literature. She has presented on the performative power of syntax in Shakespeare’s plays at the Arkansas Philological Association conference and has written papers on the use of dialects in Victorian novels, and the role of French in Vanity Fair. Her Masters thesis centers on the use of code-switching in Julio Cortázar’s experimental novel, Rayuela.
