Future Students

Entering UCA Institutional Scholarship recipients are required to complete the 2016/2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to disbursement of their scholarship. It is highly recommended that the FAFSA be completed no later than April 15, 2016 to allow for timely processing.
Academic Scholarships*

To be considered for an entering Freshman Academic Scholarship at UCA, you must meet ALL of the following criteria and required documentation must be received by the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services by February 25, 2016:

  • be fully admitted to UCA as a first-time undergraduate student
  • meet scholarship eligibility criteria based on an ACT/SAT test taken within the last five years and no later than the December 2015 test date
  • meet the scholarship eligibility criteria based on the cumulative high school GPA of the sixth or seventh semester high school transcript
  • student must not require remediation.  If the highest ACT/SAT sub-score, of any ACT/SAT taken, is below a 19 (Reading, English, or Math), or less than 470 writing, 460 mathematics, or 470 critical reading, remediation is required.

There is no separate Academic Scholarship application.

If you have already been awarded a scholarship, but a subsequent ACT/SAT score submitted to UCA by February 25, 2016 increases your scholarship eligibility:

  • your scholarship will automatically be adjusted
  • you will be notified by mail whenever upgrades in awards have been made
  • the December 2015 test results will be the last ones considered for upgrades in awards

Additional UCA Academic Scholarship Information

  • Early application for admission is recommended in order to be considered for the academic scholarships.
  •  Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any subject area.
  • To receive the full benefit of this scholarship, students will need to reside in university housing. Recipients are responsible for making on-campus housing arrangements through UCA’s Housing Office.
  • Scholarship credit hour criteria is based on UCA undergraduate credit hours.
  • Students will be required to present documentation verifying their status as a U.S. Citizen or eligible noncitizen prior to the disbursement of their scholarship funds.

  • GPA, for the purpose of scholarship renewal, is calculated as “combined,” not cumulative. This includes Fall, Spring, May Intersession/Summer I only. All other summer terms regardless of start and end date are not included.

2016 Transfer Scholarships

To be considered for a UCA Transfer Scholarship:

Fall 2016
Due to limited funding, Transfer Scholarships are no longer being accepted for Fall 2016.

  • Priority Deadlines:
    • Student must be fully admitted by June 2, 2016. Apply for admission online.
    • Admission application and other required documents must be received by the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services by June 2, 2016.
    • The Office of Student Financial Aid must have the scholarship application on file by June 2, 2016.
    • Final transcripts and other required documents must be received by the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services by June 2, 2016.
  • If Funds Are Available:
    • Students who are fully admitted between June 3, 2016 and July 14, 2016 may be considered if Transfer Scholarship funding is available.
      • Final transcripts and other required documents must be received by the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services and the Office of Student Financial Aid must have the Transfer Scholarship Application on file by July 14, 2016 to be considered.
Transfer Scholarship
  • $4,000 per year (Fall and Spring semesters only).
  • Open to all full-time, first-time UCA students transferring from an accredited college/university.
  • Applicants must be seeking first bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants must have earned a minimum of 27 undergraduate semester hours of credit, with at least one semester as a full-time (12 hours) student, from an accredited college/university with a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
  • Applicants must have at least earned 12 transferable hours in the semester immediately preceding their enrollment or successfully completed an Associate’s Degree the semester immediately preceding enrollment.
  • A 3.25 minimum cumulative GPA. Scholarships are competitive based on academic performance.
  • Students must have completed all remediation requirements prior to awarding

Additional UCA Transfer Scholarship Information

  • Scholarship renewal criterion is based on UCA credit hours.
  • Student must enroll in a minimum of 12 UCA undergraduate credit hours each semester during the term of their scholarship.
  • Student must maintain good academic standing as defined by the current Undergraduate Bulletin.
  • Scholarships are for the duration of four consecutive semesters or through the completion of a bachelor’s degree, whichever occurs first.
  • Transfer scholarships only apply to charges for in-state tuition and mandatory fees directly assessed by the University. Scholarship funds may also apply to housing charges that are directly applied to the student’s account by the University.
  • GPA for the purpose of scholarship renewal, is calculated as “combined” not cumulative. This includes Fall, Spring, May Intersession/Summer I only. All other terms regardless of start and end date are not included.

 Spring 2016 Awards
     First Spring Semester

  • To renew from Spring to Fall, the student must earn a minimum of 15 UCA undergraduate credit hours with a minimum 3.25 undergraduate GPA. If the requirements have been completed at the end of the Spring semester, the scholarship will automatically renew.
    • If renewal requirements are not completed at the end of the Spring semester then May Intersession and Summer I hours and GPA will be considered in the renewal process. Combined GPA will be calculated based on Spring, May Intersession, and Summer I semesters only. All other summer terms regardless of start and end date are not included. 

     Fall and after

  • The scholarship is awarded for the Fall and Spring semesters only.
  • To maintain scholarship eligibility, the student must earn a minimum of nine (9) UCA undergraduate credit hours and be in good academic standing at the end of the Fall semester.
  • To renew from Spring to Fall, the student must earn a minimum of 30 UCA undergraduate credit hours with a minimum 3.25 combined undergraduate GPA.   If the student has completed the requirements at the end of the Spring semester, the scholarship will automatically renew.  Combined GPA will be calculated based on Fall through Spring semester.
    • If renewal requirements are not completed at the end of the Spring semester then May Intersession and Summer I hours and GPA will be considered in the renewal process. Combined GPA will be calculated based on Fall, Spring, May Intersession, and Summer I semesters only. All other summer terms regardless of start and end date are not included.

Placing a Scholarship on Hold

A UCA academic scholarship may be placed on hold for a semester or more if a student is not enrolling at UCA (or another institution), and has a documented medical condition; has been called to active military service; is participating in an official religious service or duty; or is studying abroad.  If you would like to request to place your scholarship on hold, please complete the Scholarship Exception/Hold Request Form.

Requesting an Exception to Renewal Requirements

Exceptions to the requirements for renewal of a scholarship are granted on a medical basis for severe or life-threatening medical emergencies, on the basis of the student being called to military duty during the semester, or for other reasons as outlined in the Scholarship Exception Policy at http://uca.edu/scholarships/policies/.  All requests must be accompanied by appropriate documentation as outlined on the Scholarship Exception/Hold Request Form (see below).  If you would like to request an exception to the renewal requirements for your scholarship, complete the Scholarship Exception/Hold Request Form.
