Congrats to Counseling Psychology doctoral students, Cory Cobb, Catie Allen, and Robyn Oglesby, and UCA Psychology faculty member, Dr. Dong Xie, for the acceptance of the paper, “Exploring Adaptive Acculturation Approaches among Undocumented Latinos/as: A Test of Berry’s Model” for publication in The Counseling Psychologist. Well done!

Congratulations to Kendra Anderson for the successful defense of her dissertation, “Racial and Ethnic Identity in African American Male Inmates: Risk and Protective Factors for Criminal Thinking and Recidivism”!! Kendra is schedule to graduate in August and then begin her Post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at UT Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Way to go!

Congratulations to Danielle Umland for the successful defense of her dissertation, “Influence of Hormones on Drinking Behavior and Risky-Choices in College Age Women”!! Danielle is finishing her pre-doctoral internship at South Arkansas Regional Health Center and is scheduled to graduate in August. Way to go!

Kendra Anderson (Counseling Psychology doctoral student) has won the American Psychological Association Division 18 Public Service Student Award. This is a competitive award given to 1 student in Division 18. She was nominated by Dr. Varghese and Dr. Bihm.

Dr. John Murphy, Professor of Psychology & Counseling, presented a half-day training workshop June 5th, 2017 on “Solution-Focused Helping” for mental health therapists at the Integrated Behavioral Health Care Conference in Little Rock, AR.

Dr. Cathy Staton (Counseling Psychology 2014) is featured in this month’s ARBEST (Arkansas Building Effective Services for Trauma) newsletter. Dr. Staton is a staff psychologist at the Wade Knox Child Advocacy Center in Lonoke, Arkansas.

Dr. Liz Stout (Counseling Psychology 2014) was promoted to Assistant Director/Training Director at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville.
