Dr. Dong Xie chaired a symposium, entitled Training Chinese Professional Counselors: When Severe Shortage Encounters Huge Need at the annual meeting of the American  Psychological Association, held in Washington, DC, in August 2017.
The three presentations in this symposium included:
1. Counselor Education and Training in China: Current Status, Challenges, and Future Directions by Ziqiu Li, Ph.D.,Training Director, Mental Health Services Beijing Normal University, China
2. Providing mental health training from the U.S to China by Chun-Chung Choi, Ph.D., Counseling and Wellness Center of University of Florida
