History of UCA Outreach
The first correspondence study classes were offered in 1919 to meet the University’s mission of public service and to train teachers in more remote parts of the state. In 1975, we were officially named the Division of Continuing Education. Now known as the Division of Outreach and Community Engagement, our mission is still to provide public service and continuing education to the vast community through a centralized administrative unit that coordinates the growing demand of outreach programs.
Today, Outreach reflects a comprehensive assortment of programs and services. Also, technology and facilities have grown to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s world.
