The UCA Citizens Academy is a 13-week program emphasizing civic engagement at the local and regional level. Meeting one evening per week during the 2019 fall semester, sessions include presentations on many of the units and services of local and regional government with special attention on how citizens can become more involved. Unlike many other citizen academies, the UCA Citizens Academy addresses a wide array of issues. Featured topics include the legislative, executive, and judicial units of local and regional government as well as, among others
- Finance
- Economic development
- Transportation
- Safety
- Ecology and sanitation
- Human services
Equally noteworthy, the UCA Citizens Academy culminates with each enrolled participant working closely with one of the featured units in developing a detailed civic engagement project that they or any other civic group can implement.
