Summer Orientation and Academic Registration (SOAR)

What is SOAR?

SOAR (Summer Orientation & Academic Registration) is an orientation experience for incoming freshmen that is designed to introduce you to the university and jumpstart your transition to college life. You’ll meet your Academic Advisor and receive your fall schedule of classes, hear from faculty, staff, and Student Orientation Staff (SOS) members about what to expect in your first year, and have a chance to meet other incoming freshmen. We are excited you are coming to UCA and want to connect you to campus!

There are 1-Day session options (View past 2021 1-Day Schedule) and also 2-Day options (View past 2021 2-Day Schedule) for students and families looking for an expanded orientation experience. The 2-Day option offers additional sessions and group activities with your incoming class, a personalized class schedule tour, and in-depth tour of some campus facilities including the HPER Center and Library.

When is SOAR?

Numerous SOAR sessions will be held throughout the summer. Select the date that works best for you and register using the link below!

1-Day Sessions: June 8, June 10, June 20, June 22, June 24, July 25

2-Day Sessions: May 31-June 1 (Honors College Programs), June 2-3, June 5-6, June 26-27, June 28-29

Virtual Sessions: June 14, June 16

Closed SOAR sessions have met capacity and are struck through. They are not anticipated to re-open and we do not keep waitlists for sessions.

How do I register?

Registration is easy!  [Once registration opens on February 1st, 2022], you will be able to register yourself and any parent/family members/guests you would like to attend with you. You will be prompted to pay with a card when registering. Space is limited for each session. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email at the email address listed on your registration form.

What is the cost to attend SOAR?

The registration cost is $25 per person for the 1-Day session and $50 per person for the 2-Day session. You will pay the cost when registering each person online.  The cost covers orientation materials, programming costs, refreshments and meals (one meal for the 1-Day session and three meals for the 2-Day session).

For students attending the 2-Day session, lodging on campus during SOAR is encouraged! You will need to bring your own bedding and linens as you will be staying in one of our residence halls. Lodging on campus is an additional $20 and you will stay overnight in Donaghey Hall. Make sure to indicate on your registration form that you would like to stay on campus.

Covid-19 Planning

We are excited to host SOAR in-person this summer! SOAR sessions are planned with the safety and well-being of our students, guests, and employees as a top priority. Sessions are planned with physical distancing and opportunities for sanitation in mind. As of May 20, UCA’s face covering requirement has changed. Fully vaccinated employees, students, and guests are no longer required to wear face coverings in campus facilities. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are still required through July 29, 2021 to wear appropriate face coverings in all indoor common areas. You may find the entire statement released today here:
