What is SOAR?
SOAR is NOT mandatory. If you are unable to attend a SOAR session, you will still register for classes through our New Student Summer Registration program. SOAR (Summer Orientation & Academic Registration) is an overnight orientation experience that is designed to introduce you to the university and ease your transition into college life. You’ll meet your SOS team leaders, hear from faculty and staff about what to expect in your first year, and have a chance to meet other incoming freshmen. On the second day of SOAR, you’ll meet with your Academic Advisor to register for classes and get a custom campus tour of where your classes will be in the fall. You’ll also have the opportunity to tour different campus facilities like the HPER Center, Library, and Student Health Clinic.
How do I register for SOAR?
Registration is easy! Click the date of the session you want in the table below, and fill out the online registration form. You can also pay online. Space is limited and we only accept applications on a first come first served basis. Give us a call at 501-450-5873 if you have any questions.
Once we have received your application and payment has been confirmed you will receive a confirmation email at the address listed on your application within 2 business days. Please note the refund deadlines for each session. NO REFUNDS CAN BE GIVEN AFTER THOSE DATES.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to house parents/guests on campus at this time. Our sponsor hotel, Country Inn & Suites, offers a discounted rate for all SOAR families. Call 501.932.0500 to reserve your room!

Should my parents attend SOAR?
Yes! We encourage them to do so. Our parent program will provide them the opportunity to discover UCA. Parents will be involved in informative discussions on student services, academics, fees and expenses. Small groups of administrators and students will meet informally with parents to answer their questions and discuss their concerns. What is the cost per student and guest to attend SOAR?
$60 For students staying on campus (Students are encouraged to stay in the residence hall).
$50 For those providing their own accommodations.

*SOAR sessions are intended for the incoming student and their guardian(s) or spouse. Lodging is provided for the student only, guests can visit our hotel information page for information on a discounted hotel rate.
Should I bring anything to SOAR?
We suggest the following items be on your “What to Bring” checklist:
- Alarm Clock
- Spending money
- Light jacket (meeting rooms are sometimes cool)
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Comfortable clothes
- Toiletry products
- Sheets/Blanket/Sleeping Bag
- Shower Shoes
If you are unable to attend your assigned session, we must receive notice in writing no later than May 5th for the Sessions 1-5 and June 2nd for Sessions 6-7 and June 28th for Sessions 8-10. No refund will be issued after a session for which we did not receive prior notification. Refund requests may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
