Nutrition Students Take It On the Road

Last week Mrs. Faulkner’s class presented at Southridge Village Assisted Living facility.  Four nutrition students gave a presentation and answered questions regarding “healthy snacks”, “low sodium options”, “healthier beverage choices” and “healthier sweet food options”.  Way to go Mrs. Faulkner and Nutrition students!

Interns Educating on NFPE

The Dietetic Interns taught Nutrition Focused Physical Exam procedures to the Senior Seminar class  on 2/6/17. First, Audrey and Helena performed a demonstration of IMG_2395 (1)the entire NFPE. Then we split the class into six groups. We had six stations set up to thoroughly go over different sections of the NFPE. The stations included: protocol, readiness, head, torso, legs, and one other I can’t remember! Then we concluded with a case study with the whole class participating.  Everything went really well!

FCS Day is this Saturday–will you be “Dining In”?

The 3rd Annual Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Day, “Dining In” for Healthy Families, is almost here!

If you’ve not heard of FCS Day, it is an opportunity to promote family and consumer sciences programs, tools, and professionals that support family mealtime.  We ask families to make and eat a healthy meal together on December 3rd. December 3rd was chosen to recognize AAFCS Founder Ellen Swallow Richards, first woman graduate of MIT, whose birthday was December 3rd.

To date, we have received more than 40,000 commitments to “Dining In”! But to grow our initiative and surpass last year’s 127,000+ commitments, we need you.

With FCS Day taking place this Saturday, Commit to “Dining In” on Dec. 3 at http://bit.ly/FCSday!
