Mission

UCA’s Living Learning Communities connect all first-year students with faculty, staff, and peers who work together to support their success at UCA and beyond. We intentionally create opportunities to motivate one another in our academic, personal, and professional growth and our development as active and engaged community members. UCA Living Learning Communities affirm a commitment to a culture of inclusiveness of all the identities claimed by the members of our communities.

Living Learning Community Outcomes

Within their Living Learning Communities, students, faculty, and staff will

  • Build connections within the Living Learning Community, within the campus community, and within our local and global communities based on empathy, inclusive practices, and a sense of responsibility to one another
  • Explore academic questions and ideas outside of the classroom, through co-curricular programs, community engagement, and scholarly exploration
  • Develop and promote skills for resilience and success in our academic, personal, and professional journeys
  • Exercise active listening, courageous communication, and constructive dialogue in our everyday interactions, as we resolve conflicts, and as we consider the critical issues that span our classrooms and communities
