Chinese communities have called the U.S. South home for over 150 years, but this rich history has often been marginalized within Asian American studies and Southern history. This two-day workshop brings together scholars, students, educators, and community members to share strategies and highlight new and ongoing efforts to preserve this vital history. The first part of the workshop, held Friday afternoon in Stanley Russ Rm 103, will highlight emerging research on Chinese communities in the South from the perspectives of history, anthropology, literary studies, and Asian American studies, while the second part, held Saturday in Integrated Health Sciences Building 227/228, will showcase community archives and advocacy, and provide educators with resources for engaging this history within and beyond the classroom.

Dear UCA Faculty & Staff,
The Nutrition and Family Sciences Department is looking for research subjects to participate in a study titled “The Effects of a Fruits and Vegetables Supplement on Skin Carotenoid Levels in Older Adults.”

Participation in the study involves two testing sessions one month apart. Each session will take less than an hour. As part of the study, subjects will have health parameters measured such as blood pressure and waist circumference.
If you or someone you know is interested in participating, please contact JJ at jmayo@uca.edu for more information.
