June 30: Honors Alumni Around the World Virtual Event
At 7:00 pm CST, we’ll be using a virtual platform to bring together honors alums from around the world to hear about the upcoming 40th anniversary celebration, to network, and to reminisce about their time in honors and at UCA. Join via zoom at: https://uca-edu.zoom.us/j/81504470298
July 1: Forty Friday Kick-Off
Forty Friday will be a social media campaign that celebrates 40 historical and contemporary facts about the Honors College. Posts will be made weekly on Fridays for 40 weeks. #SHC40Friday
August 26: Honors College 40th Birthday
To commemorate the first honors class having been held on August 26, 1982, UCA Honors will host the screening of a 2-hour documentary on the history of the Schedler Honors College in the UCA College of Business Auditorium at 7:00 pm CST. All students and alumni are invited to attend in-person or virtually. The YouTube link can be found here for those unable to join in person.
August 28: National Bow Tie Day
Celebrate Honors on National Bow Tie Day by wearing a bow tie or honors merch to pay tribute to the greatest bow tie wearer of all time! Tag us with your photo @ucahonors and @ucahonorsalumni.
September 24: Honors Alumni Retreat at Winthrop Rockefeller Institute
The alumni retreat will include a variety of book discussion groups with faculty, faculty lectures, free time, great food, and entertainment. Overnight housing is available in the Governor’s Lodge on either evening of 23rd or 24th at alum’s expense. Registration is due September 1. Learn more here.
October 24-28: Honors Challenge Week
Challenge Week 2022 will focus on The Mental Health Crisis: Finding Our Way. Most events will be livestreamed for alumni participation. For more information, visit uca.edu/honors/cw2022
October 29: Honors Homecoming
Tailgating at UCA Homecoming followed by a cult classic film in the Middleton Forum of McAlister Hall.
November: Giving Thanks to Honors
The 2022 Oral History Project completed by honors students will be released. Edit: The Schedler Honors College Oral History Project (SHCOHP) is now available here.
February 1-14: Love Letters to Honors
Share letters about what Norb, Rick, faculty, or the Honors College means to you. Submit your letters electronically during these two weeks.
March 9: UCA Day of Giving
Save the date! Support UCA Honors on UCA’s Annual Day of Giving.
March 30: 2nd Annual Founders Day
We celebrated the inaugural Founders Day on March 30, 2022, Norb’s birthday, to celebrate his contributions to UCA Honors. The 2023 keynote speaker is Gerald Plafcan (’86) from the first honors graduating class. Honors alumni are invited to attend in-person or virtually.
April 1: Issues in the Public Square & Toast to McAlister Hall
Join us for our annual Issues in the Public Square Symposium then stay for a toast as we say good-bye to McAlister Hall. The Honors College will be moving in Fall 2023 to the new Schichtl Center for Honors Education (SCHEd). Honors alumni are invited to attend in-person or virtually.
