MFA Program Admissions Process

Deadline

The deadline to be considered for assistantships is February 1, although we encourage prospective students to apply as soon as they are ready.  Applicants seeking admission to the program and not seeking assistantships at this time may apply and be accepted at any time beyond the February 1 deadline, for the fall semester.

Application

Applications are made to the Graduate School at this address  https://uca.edu/graduateschool/admission-process/

In addition, you must also submit the following items directly to the MFA Director, Stephanie Vanderslice at stephv@uca.edu

  • A 500 word statement of purpose detailing why you would like to pursue the MFA
  • A 10-30 page portfolio of creative writing in the areas in which you hope to study (fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting)

Please do not hesitate to email Dr. Vanderslice with any questions or concerns about our program.
