UNIV 0360 – Foundations of Quantitative Literacy Students will learn and review basic mathematical concepts needed to succeed in Quantitative Literacy. Concepts covered will include solving linear equations, percents and decimals, and using a graphing calculator. This course is a sufficient condition for mathematics placement (see the university’s Mathematics, Reading, and Writing Placement policy). Students must be enrolled in MATH 1360 (Quantitative Literacy) to enroll in UNIV 0360. A grade of D or better in the college-level course signifies completion of the developmental requirement. The course does not count toward degree requirements and will not be used to compute semester and cumulative grade point averages.
UNIV 0365 – Foundations of Mathematics for Health Science Professions Students will learn and review basic mathematical concepts needed to succeed in Mathematical Reasoning for Health Science Professions. Concepts covered will include quantities and measurements, dosage calculations, dimensional analysis, exponential and logarithmic models, and an introduction to statistical studies and descriptive statistics. This course is a sufficient condition for mathematics placement (see the university’s Mathematics, Reading, and Writing Placement policy). Students must be enrolled in MATH 1365 (Mathematical Reasoning for Health Science Professions) to enroll in UNIV 0365. A grade of D or better in the college-level course signifies completion of the developmental requirement. This course does not count toward degree requirements and will not be used to compute semester or cumulative grade point averages.
UNIV 0370 – Foundations of College Literacy An introduction to the strategies needed in college-level reading and writing. This course is a sufficient condition for reading and writing placement (see the university’s Mathematics, Reading, and Writing Placement policy). Students must be enrolled in a corequisite UCA Core humanities (HUM) or social science (SS) course to enroll in UNIV 0370. A grade of D or better in the corequisite UCA Core course or a grade of C or better in UNIV 0370 signifies completion of the developmental requirement. UNIV 0390 – Foundations of College Algebra Students will learn and review basic mathematical concepts needed to succeed in College Algebra. Concepts covered will include graphing, functions, linear equations and inequalities, quadratic equations, operations with real numbers, polynomials, rational functions, and radical functions. This course is a sufficient condition for mathematics placement (see the university’s Mathematics, Reading, and Writing Placement policy). Students must be enrolled in MATH 1390 (College Algebra) to enroll in UNIV 0390. A grade of D or better in the college-level course signifies completion of the developmental requirement. This course does not count toward degree requirements and will not be used to compute semester or cumulative grade point averages.
