Adriian Gardner along with faculty from the School of Communication presented focus group findings at the Conference on College Composition and Communication in Kansas City, Missouri, March 14-17. After reviewing institutional data regarding the completion rates for black males in high-enrollment classes, Gardner and his colleagues deployed focus groups with black male students who were enrolled in first-year writing and communication courses to gather qualitative data about their experiences in the classroom and on campus.
