Why I Do What I Do

I can tell you from experience that the college road was not an easy one for me, but I am reaping the benefits of a college education. The difference between my attending college straight from high school and returning as a non-traditional student is that I cherished learning as a non-traditional student.

If I could give a student any advice, it would be to not take for granted what information is being imparted to you now and embrace it, because at some point in your life you will have to pull from that educational vault.

My motto for advising is to be transparent with my students because believe it or not, I am not a genius. That should have made you laugh! I am just a woman who knew that an education would open doors and allow me to improve my quality of life and make a difference for another generation. I embrace each advising session as a time where I can dig deep in the crevices of a student’s heart and mind and we both discover something amazing and life-changing!
