About Carrie

Carrie Tinsley is an Academic Advisor for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and works primarily with Biology and Environmental Science students. She also assists students in pre-professional concentrations such as Pre-Med, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Optometry, and more. She has worked in the Academic Advising Center since 2017. Prior to UCA, Carrie and her family lived in the Nashville, TN area where she worked for eleven years as a high school English teacher. Carrie holds an MA in English with a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition from Middle Tennessee State University and a BA in English from Ole Miss.

The transition from teacher to advisor has been a natural one. Carrie loves working one-on-one with students to help them figure out their goals and how to reach them. She enjoys finding out each student’s story…where they’re from, what inspires them, why they chose UCA and science… She wants to make sure each of her students knows they have a person in their corner on campus who can help.

Carrie loves books (she is always reading one and listening to one), writing, traveling, and sports. She lives in Conway with her husband, daughter, two sons, golden retriever, and their cat.
