About Carrie
Ms. Martens is a faculty member of the UCA Department of Music. In addition to teaching music education courses, Ms. Martens advises all undergraduate and post-bacc music majors and minors. Ms. Martens earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Arkansas Tech University and a Master of Music from the University of Central Arkansas. She previously taught band, choir, and general music for grades K-12. Her primary instrument is saxophone and she remembers her three years of being drum major in college very fondly.
As a former music major herself, Ms. Martens has a passion for helping UCA music majors navigate the challenges and successes of pursing a degree and career in music. When she is not teaching and advising, Ms. Martens loves spending time with her family and being outside, especially for walks, hikes, and canoeing.
