2013 – 2014 Entering Freshman Academic Scholarships

The University of Central Arkansas awards Academic Scholarships to first-time entering freshmen based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores.  Freshman students who are fully admitted to UCA by the February 16, 2013 priority deadline will automatically be considered for UCA Academic Scholarships.  There is no separate scholarship application.

The last ACT/SAT test scores that will be accepted for scholarship eligibility and/or upgrade is the DECEMBER 2012 ACT/SAT.  Scholarship eligibility will be based on the sixth or seventh semesters high school transcript.  Only documentation (ACT/SAT scores and high school transcripts) received by March 15, 2013 will be considered for Academic Scholarship award/upgrade purposes. 

Scholarship award notifications will begin in late October and continue through the end of March.  Upgrade notifications will be mailed in December, February, and March.

UCA Distinguished Scholarship

  • $4,250 per semester or $8,500 per year
  • Awarded for eight (8) consecutive semesters, not to include summer semesters.
  • Eligibility Requirements Include:
    • 31 – 36 ACT / 2020 – 2400 SAT or National Merit/Achievement Finalist or Semifinalist
    • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA
  • An eight (final) semester high school transcript will be required for scholarship disbursement.
  • Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any area.
  • Students are encouraged to apply to the Honors College where they may compete for additional scholarships.
  • Out-of-State residents will receive $6,500 per semester or $13,000 per year.

UCA Excellence Scholarship

  • $3,250 per semester or $6,500 per year
  • Awarded for eight (8) consecutive semesters, not to include summer semesters
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • 29 – 30 ACT / 1920 – 2010 SAT
    • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA
  • An eight (final) semester high school transcript will be required for scholarship disbursement.
  • Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any area.
  • Students are encouraged to apply to the Honors College where they may compete for additional scholarships.

UCA Achievement Scholarship

  • $2,500 per semester or $5,000 per year
  • Awarded eight (8) consecutive semesters, not to include summer semesters.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • 27 – 28 ACT / 1800 – 1910 SAT
    • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA
  • Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any area.
  • An eight (final) semester high school transcript will be required for scholarship disbursement.

UCA University Scholarship

  • $1,500 per semester or $3,000 per year
  • Awarded for eight (8) consecutive semesters, not to include summer semesters.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • 24 – 26 ACT / 1620 – 1790 AT
    • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA
  • Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any area.
  • An eight (final) semester high school transcript will be required for scholarship disbursement.

UCA Leadership Scholarship

  • $750 per semester or $1,500 per year
  • Awarded for eight (8) consecutive semesters, not to include summer semesters.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • 23 ACT / 1560 – 1610 SAT
    • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA
  • Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any area.
  • An eight (final) semester high school transcript will be required for scholarship disbursement.

Additional UCA Academic Scholarship Information

  • Early application for admission is recommended in order to be considered for the academic scholarships.
  • UCA Academic Scholarships are awarded on a COMPETITIVE basis.
  • Students cannot require remediation (transitional) courses in any subject area.  All remediation must be completed before entrance to UCA in the Fall 2013 semester.
  • To receive the full benefit of this scholarship, students will need to reside in university housing.  Recipients are responsible for making on-campus housing arrangements through UCA’s Housing Office.
  • UCA Academic Scholarship recipients need to meet the following criteria to maintain their Academic Scholarship.
    • Remain continuously enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester during the term of the scholarship.
    • Complete 12 or more hours and earn at least a 2.5 GPA each fall semester.
    • Complete 30 or more hours and earn at least a 3.25 GPA each academic year (fall and spring terms combined).

2013 Transfer Scholarships

The University of Central Arkansas awards Transfer Scholarships to first-time UCA students transferring from a two-year college, including out-of-state institutions.  Transfer scholarships are offered for students entering in the fall and spring semesters.

UCA Transfer Scholarship

  • $2,000 per semester or $4,000 per year
  • Awarded for four (4) consecutive semesters, not to include summer semesters.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • First-time UCA student transferring from a two-year college, including out-of-state institutions
    • Earned a minimum of 60 transferrable hours by the end of the fall or spring semester immediately preceding enrollment at UCA.  Hours earned at four-year institutions will be considered, but the majority of hours earned must be from a two-year institution.
    • 3.25 cumulative GPA

Spring 2013 Applicants

The priority deadline to apply for this scholarship has passed.  Applications are no longer being accepted.

To be considered for a UCA Transfer Scholarship, the Office of Student Financial Aid must receive your Transfer Scholarship application by the priority deadline – December 3, 2012.  The Office of Admissions must also have an application for admission on file by the priority deadline – December 3, 2012.  You can apply for admission online at uca.edu/admissions/apply/transfer/.  Final transcripts and any other required documents must be received by January 9, 2013.

Fall 2013 Applicants

To be considered for a UCA Transfer Scholarship, the Office of Student Financial Aid must receive your Transfer Scholarship application by the priority deadline – May 1, 2013.  The Office of Admissions must also have an application for admission on file by the priority deadline – May 1, 2013.  You can apply for admission online at uca.edu/admissions/apply/transfer/.  Final transcripts and any other required documents must be received by June 15, 2013.
