A Community of Leaders

Hughes Residential College in Hughes Hall, established in 1997, is the first and oldest residential college on the UCA campus as well as the first living/learning community to be established at a public university in the state of Arkansas.

Our theme is "Living Leadership."  Every student accepted to Hughes Residential College is a potential leader, but we understand that not all leaders stand at the front of a group.  Curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities like the Hughes Leadership Institute are intended to help each student identify his or her own strengths and discover where those strengths can be most beneficial.  By promoting an educational agenda designed to connect students to the needs of the UCA and local communities, faculty and staff members in Hughes Residential College encourage students to explore leadership opportunities with service organizations such as CAPCA, Habitat for Humanity, and the UCA Humane Society.

Outside the classroom, Hughes is the team to beat in intramural sports, and every new Hughesie should look forward to the ridiculously fun annual fall camping trip!

While all entering first-year students may apply, those whose academic interests include education, business, law, politics, and public service are especially encourages to consider Hughes Residential College.
