H. L. Minton Center

Named for H. L. Minton, the first chair of the Department of Geography, the Minton Center was originally dedicated on GIS Day, November 15, 2006, in Irby Hall. Reestablished in 2018, the purpose of the Minton Center is to provide a space for student and faculty geospatial research. The completion of public service and contract projects obtained from public and private agencies and state and local governments are also part of the Minton Center mission.

Students interested in working in the Minton Center must have the requisite skills (cartography, GIS, and perhaps remote sensing) and have the time to work in the Minton Center a few hours a week. Interested students should contact Dr. Stephen O’Connell, Chair of Geography, in his office (Burdick 318F) or phone (450-5636) or by e-mail (soconnell@uca.edu).
