REFUND POLICY FOR SERVICE MEMBERS USING FEDERAL TUITION ASSISTANCE (FTA)
1. The University of Central Arkansas Recognizes that service members using Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) funds may sometimes have a need to drop a course. This could be due to military duty conflicts or otherwise. FTA funds will be returned to the respective branch of service in accordance with DoD MOU, paragraph 4.f.(2)(d).
2. If the University has received FTA funds for a class, then the student drops the class because of military duty conflicts beyond the student’s control, the student will receive a 100% refund. Consequently, the University will refund 100% of FTA dollars to the respective branch of service. There is no proration of funds in this situation. Even if the service member has completed 60% of the course and then drops, a full 100% refund will still take place under these circumstances. At no time will there be a 0% returned amount.
3. If the University has received FTA funds for class, then the student drops the class for reasons other than military duty conflicts, the service member will be responsible for the course cost based on the following, in accordance with University of Central Arkansas Board Policy 612:
a. Five days or less into a term that is greater than 11 weeks in duration, the student will receive a full refund. All FTA funds will be returned to the respective branch of service.
b. Fifteen days or less into a term that is greater than 11 weeks in duration, the student will receive a 75% refund. All FTA funds will be returned to the respective branch of service.
c. Sixteen days or more into a term that is greater than 11 weeks in duration, the student will receive no refund. All FTA funds will be returned to the respective branch of service.
d. Two days or less into a term that is less than 11 weeks in duration, the student will receive a full refund. All FTA funds will be returned to the respective branch of service.
e. Five days or less into a term that is less than 11 weeks in duration, the student will receive a 75% refund. All FTA funds will be returned to the respective branch of service.
