“From Up Here” : Director’s Notes

Liz Flahive’s play shows us a loving and devoted family in distress and disarray. The oldest child Kenny is “different,” and has done something so disruptive that at first he seems to be the cause of the Barrett’s troubles. The play asks tough questions about work, about time, about our ability to listen to one another, and especially our ability to forgive both others and ourselves. Will Kenny find the redemption he needs (and we all deserve)? And can the power of family love overcome the stress that threatens it? Please note that in normal times our family would hug more. We are operating under COVID restrictions, which are necessary, but which make our relationships seem a lot colder than we wish.
