Dr. Maritza Dominguez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and a licensed physical therapist. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer from the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists and credentialed clinical instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Dominguez completed a PhD in Physical Therapy from the University of Central Arkansas in August 2020, a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas at El Paso in May 2009, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2001. Her primary clinical focus is post-acute care and community re-integration with adults who have survived brain injuries and other neurological disorders. She also has experience in outpatient, working with the geriatric population and young athletes. Dr. Dominguez serves on
the Interprofessional Education Committee for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and teaches first and second year students in therapeutic exercise, physical rehabilitation, professional development, complex patient management, and research.
Her clinical research interests include interprofessional education and animal-assisted therapy.
Outside of academia, Maritza enjoys CrossFit, racing in triathlons, pickleball, and biking with her family.
