Dr. Brian Odom is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Physical Therapy, a licensed physical therapist and a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) by the American Board of Wound Management. Dr. Odom received his PhD in Physical Therapy from the University of Central Arkansas in 2018 as well as his Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 1999, Bachelor of Science in 1998 and Associate of Applied Science in 1996 (Physical Therapist Assistant). Dr. Odom taught in the Harding University Physical Therapy Program from 2012 to 2022. His primary clinical focus is acute care but also has experience in the areas of orthopedics, rehabilitation, outpatient, cardiopulmonary, and pediatrics and has been clinically active at Arkansas Children’s Hospital since 2002.  Dr. Odom is the President-Elect for the Arkansas Chapter of the APTA slated to begin his term in January of 2026.  He has served as Vice President of APTA-Arkansas in the past and has recently revived the Student Special Interest Group (SSIG) for APTA-Arkansas and served as the faculty mentor for the UCA SSIG.  He was selected by the Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) as an item writer for the APTA- Academy of Clinical Electrophysiology & Wound Management; a new specialty exam in wound management that began in 2022. Dr. Odom began teaching in the UCA Department of Physical Therapy in 2005 as an adjunct instructor in the area of integumentary. Dr. Odom joined the faculty as a full-time member in the Fall of 2022 teaching in the areas of kinesiology, foundational skills, cardiopulmonary, complex medical patients, and Integumentary. His research interests include enhancing the learning experience for the next generation of physical therapist, the use of telemedicine in wound care, and pediatric wound healing.
