Dan Steinhilber, 2015 webThe UCA Baum Gallery of Fine Art will host artist Dan Steinhilber as an Artist in Residence for the 2015 fall season.

Steinhilber’s sculptural artwork will be on exhibition in the Baum Gallery from Thursday, Sept. 10 until Friday, Oct. 23. The exhibition will be on view during the gallery’s regular hours of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entry to the exhibition and the gallery is free. An exhibition reception will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 4-6 p.m. The artist will be present and will give a brief gallery talk. This event is free and open to the public.

Steinhilber will also create an outdoor public art installation on UCA’s campus, titled Primary Developments. Installation of the outdoor work will begin on Monday, Sept. 7 between Harrin and McAlister Halls on the UCA campus. There will be an unveiling celebration for the final work on Saturday September 12, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

“The large scale of Steinhilber’s work and his unique use of commonplace materials make the work very exciting to experience,” said Barclay McConnell, director of the Baum Gallery, “and the sculpture he is creating outdoors on UCA’s campus is entirely new and sure to be dynamic and eye-catching.”

Volunteers will be needed to assist with the outdoor installation beginning Monday, Sept. 7. If there are students, faculty, or other members of the Conway community that are interested in helping with the outdoor installation, please contact Barclay McConnell at 501-450-5793 or baumartgallery@gmail.com.

Steinhilber has resided and worked out of Washington, D.C. since 2000. His recent solo exhibitions include Marlin Underground at the Kreeger Museum in Washington, D.C. and Hold on Loosely at the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh, N.C. Steinhilber has also had work included in a variety of group exhibitions in museums both domestically and internationally.
