MODEL UN SUMMER CAMP SET FOR JULY 23-28

The University of Central Arkansas Department of Political Science will host the Model United Nations Summer Camp on July 23-28.

Some 40 Arkansas high school students entering 10th through 12th grade have been selected to represent 20 countries for the camp.

Students will participate in several workshops on the fundamentals of Model United Nations and other topics. Students will also represent assigned countries in a simulation of the U.N. General Assembly. Public, private and homeschooled students were invited to apply for the camp.

This program is one of the few Model U.N. Summer Camps held in the United States.

Highlights for the week include plenary session speakers Bill Foreman, director of public relations, Heifer International on Tuesday, July 25, and Jose Aguilar Salazar, deputy consul general, Consulate of Mexico in Little Rock on Wednesday, July 26.

All committee and plenary sessions of the U.N. General Assembly will take place in the UCA Student Center during the week.

The Model U.N. Summer Camp is funded by a grant awarded to the Department of Political Science from the Arkansas Department of Education.
