Arkansas and the World: Model United Nations Summer Camp

NOTICE:  The Model United Nations Summer Camp at UCA has been cancelled due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.  We are no longer accepting applications for the summer camp in July 2020.

This summer camp program, which was funded through a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) to the UCA Department of Political Science in 2017, 2018, and 2019, is one of the few Model UN summer camps held in the United States.  In recent years, Model UN summer programs around the country have been sponsored by Harvard University, Yale University, Columbia University, Georgetown University, and the University of California-Los Angeles.  During the Model UN summer camps held at UCA in previous years, high school students from around the state of Arkansas have participated in experiential learning opportunities that enhanced their understanding of international relations, diplomacy, and organizations in the 21st century.  Students participated in workshops on international relations, the United Nations, and the fundamentals of Model United Nations.  Students represented assigned countries in interactive simulations of committee sessions of UN bodies.  Students also participates in a Global Trivia Competition each evening of the summer camps.
