Update regarding COVID-19 from President Houston Davis to students, faculty, and staff
As we near the end of the fall semester and finals week, I know some of you have been concerned about finding quiet, socially distanced places to study on campus, both individually and as small working groups. Today, I am happy to share a few updates regarding study locations, as well as several important reminders about campus service hours from now through the end of the semester.
Beginning today through finals week, we have expanded the hours of five rooms on campus that may be used for small group study sessions. We realize that some classes and disciplines necessitate small group study, but we also want to ensure that we are able to offer group study locations in a safe manner. Just like when you are in regular classroom spaces, you will be required to wear your masks and maintain six feet of distance from others when in the study spaces. The following Wi-Fi-enabled study rooms are available for extended hours beginning today through finals week on Friday, Dec. 11.
Old Main
Rooms 14, 27, 112, and 115 will each be available from 6:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (with the exception of Thanksgiving Break Nov. 23-29).
Student Center
Room 202 will be available from 7:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Friday; 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Saturday; and 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Sunday.
In addition to these spaces, individuals may study in Torreyson Library. The library’s hours of operation from now through Winter Break are posted here.
We also understand the important role that staying active plays in relieving stress and helping you mentally prepare for finals. The HPER Center will remain open from now through Winter Break. You can see a breakdown of the HPER’s daily hours of operation here.
Campus dining services will also remain open through Winter Break. For the most up-to-date dining hours, visit the UCA Campus Dining webpage here.
In the coming weeks, please watch your CUB email account closely, as I will continue to communicate important details about finals week, campus services, Winter Break, and the spring 2020 semester.
While this semester has presented plenty of challenges, I remain in awe of your resilience and positivity. Each and every one of you have played an integral role in making this semester a success, and we could not have made it this far without your diligence. Thank you for all that you do to make UCA an exceptional place to live and learn.
