Online Teacher Academy

UCA Online Teacher Academy for Arkansas Educators (fully online)

The University of Central Arkansas is one of the six universities in Arkansas providing an Online Teaching Academy in 2021. The College of Education at UCA will provide up to 30 current PK-12 educators 15 hours of graduate credit courses to increase their understanding of teaching Pk-12 students online and prepare them to be teacher leaders for online teaching. The UCA Online Teacher Academy scholars will engage in courses that focus on the content necessary for the AR Online Teaching Endorsement and will be prepared to pass the Online Teaching Assessment. All costs for tuition, application to UCA, online course registration, and the online teaching assessment will be covered by a grant from the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. All Academy courses are fully online with a blend of synchronous and asynchronous coursework.

Acceptance to the 2021-22 Online Teaching Academy is limited. Teachers are urged to apply as early as possible. Applicants must be licensed AR teachers and employed full-time in an Arkansas public or charter school.

Course Instruction:

The UCA Online Teaching Academy consists of 15 graduate-level credits in 5 courses taken over 3 semesters. The courses are rigorous and taught using a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction. The successful completion of the 15 credits qualify participants for the UCA Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning.
